CDR Surgery

Extracted the CDR from Saturn yesterday and installed it and its controller temporarilly in Io. Io saw it properly (seeing as how it is running Win98, not Win2K or WinME) and it looked like the DirectCD stuff was working properly too. Anyways, after fussing around for a bit, I got the firmware flasher to flash the CDR's firmware to the required 1.0j revision. That done, I put it back into Saturn, and Win2K seems to see it properly.

Of course, now I've lost the DirectCD driver disk that came with the camera -- so I have this drive I can't use. And I can't just connect the camera directly, because the camera would need the same software.

The drive seems to work OK under Linux again though.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
