Outstanding Issues

Couple of items:

First, about three days after the power blackout, Saturn appeared to blow a disk. Except that when I ran the Linux rescue mode, it saw the disk electronics, it was just behaving as if the system had a blown partition table. I did a Kickstart of RedHat 8, and everything worked, so a week later I re-did Win2K and RedHat.

Still don't know what caused it.

Second, when I did the RedHat 8 reinstall, it detected the IDE CD/RW that we installed and now I can burn CDs from Linux again.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
