More Internet Instability; Saturn load

The internet disappeared for varying lengths of time on the weekend. The one time I noticed, Sunday around 1PM, I only got it back by resetting both the cablemodem and the firewall; just resetting the firewall did not do the trick. Both boxes are hooked up to the same powerbar now, so resetting both should be easier to do.

The 64-bit CentOS 4.3 wouldn't boot, so I reverted to using the 32-bit. Set up the whole disk in one partition which should make data loss that much more convenient in the future. I would like a smaller disk to put the OS on so that if when things fail only the OS is eaten.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
