Thinking

Thinking about changing Saturn's architecture.

The idea:

  • install CentOS 5 (x86) with Xen. Serve current directories via NFS and Samba. Set up a NIS domain for user accounts.
  • install Solaris 10/x86 as a xen client. Run Sun Rays out of that. Because the Sun Rays will need the DHCP server, DHCP will have to live here. We might (or might as well) have NIS mastered here, along with the other network management stuff.
  • install a CentOS 4.x as a xen client for mail.
  • install a Windows XP as a xen client.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
