Enabling Linux to work as a router

Manually (you will have to do this every time the system boots):

# echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

Automatically: add this to /etc/sysctl.conf:

# Uncomment the next line to enable packet forwarding for IPv4
net.ipv4.ip_forward=1

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
