RedHat NIS setup

Quick setup for RedHat NIS:

  • define NISDOMAIN in /etc/sysconfig/network
  • add 'server' line to /etc/yp.conf
  • run chkconfig ypbind on
  • check values in /etc/nsswitch.conf (you will very probably have to :s/nisplus/nis/g)
You can now /etc/init.d/ypbind start to bring it up, and it should come up correctly when you reboot.
