Installing packages from install media

You can't just mount the installation media, because it is a bootable media it has slices that regular CDs don't. To get at the actual packages:

# mount -F hsfs -o ro /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s0 /cdrom

The automounter will probably do this properly. However around here the only way you'll have the automounter is if you've done a SUNWall install, as opposed to the SUNWreq that most systems get. (ie if you have the automounter, you probably have everything else, too, and won't need the install media.)

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
