Problem:

When I power up a Sun Ray 1, it cannot determine that the attached monitor can do 1280x1024, so it defaults to 640x480@60, on which it pan-and-scans the 1280x1024 X desktop.

Immediate Solution:

$ /opt/SUNWut/bin/utset -d r=1280x1024@60
It will make the change and ask you for confirmation within a couple of seconds.

Unfortunately this solution is not permanent and power-cycling the Sun Ray will return you to the initial state.

Permanent Solution:

...uh… something to do with utresadm?
