Ekahau HeatMapper

Can generate a map showing the comparative strength of wireless signal reception at physical positions.

The idea is that you walk around with your laptop while clicking on a map showing where you are when you clicked the map; the laptop records the wireless signal strength and then extrapolates from your data points to show a map.

Very cool.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
