Problem
Lazy. Want to ssh to ESXi node without requiring a password.
Solution
Public keys should go in
/etc/ssh/keys-<username>/authorized_keys
For example: /etc/ssh/keys-root/authorized_keys

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
