Problem

Default dynamic connector has a fucking arrow head on it.

Solution

Open your new diagram from your stencil.

Before you do anything else:

  1. Drag a new dynamic connector. Observe the arrow head with hate.
  2. On the Shapes left sidebar, click More Shapes -> Show Document Stencil. Your default shapes will disappear and be replaced with a Dynamic Connector.
  3. Double Click the Dynamic Connector. It will pop up a new sub-window illustrating the Connector. If you're like me, it will show you a right-angle connector with no arrow heads. (Even though, as you've just observed with hate, the arrow head is in fact there.)
  4. Right-click the Dynamic Connector and select Format Shape. The Format Shape side bar comes up on the right.
  5. For each begin and end Arrow Types, select none (even though it's already selected.)
  6. Make any other changes you want to the Default Connector. I usually change it to a straight connector, but that's just me.
  7. Close the sub-window (not Visio). You will get asked: Update 'Dynamic connector' and all of its instances? Say Yes.
  8. Observe that your dragged Dynamic Connector is now formatted the way you want it.
  9. Right-click Document Stencil and select Close. Your stencil shapes come back.
  10. Delete the Dynamic Connector that you created to start this mess.
  11. Carry on with your Visio-ing, weeping gently that your life has been reduced to this.

Notes

You can do this in an existing document, however when you bring up the stencil it will show you a Dynamic Connector for each set of options you've applied to your various lines. You are probably better off doing individual edits to each Connector to get them to look the way you want them to. You can change the Default Connector (if you can figure out which one it is) and those changes will apply to any un-edited Connectors still in your diagram.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
