Stories we can't tell

In my role as a itinerent Systems Administrator, I sometimes see things which strike me as… well, silly. I can't tell these stories in public, because the victims may find the site, and, knowing who I am, will know who they are.

Case in point: the customer who found himself some space, built some walls, filled it with computers, and now can't keep the (single, small) door into his space closed at all because there are insufficient A/C vents into his space to keep his systems cool. Things are so bad in there that their workstations have to be shut down overnight and on weekends so that the server(s) in their space won't crash due to overtemps.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
