Windows2000 Plain Password Registry Hack

REGEDIT4

;Contributor: Herb Lewis (herb@sgi.com) ;Updated: 16 July 1999 ;Status: Current ; ;Subject: Registry file to enable plain text passwords in Windows 2000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\LanmanWorkStation\\Parameters] "EnablePlainTextPassword"=dword:00000001

Hmmm… doesn't seem to be a way to display a single (backslash) character.

Also interesting: >>http://www.redhat.com/archives/redhat-install-list/2004-January/msg00740.html

If you're using XP Home, the Linux username and the Windows username must be the same and have the same, exact password.

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
