Windows Customizations

I've been playing a bit with cheap windows customization. Of the two, Login Screens are seen more often, and the tool I've found is more complete (ie it is an editor/creator as well as an installer). Creating Boot Splashes still seems kind of kludgy due to the strict limitations on picture size and pallette.

It is becoming obvious to me that 1024x768 LCD panels are becoming more popular -- most of the mods I have tried look great on the laptop but look somewhat more crappy when viewed at a higher resolution (ie on Saturn).

This is a collection of techical information, much of it learned the hard way. Consider it a lab book or a /info directory. I doubt much of it will be of use to anyone else.
